Satellite Earth Station, Launch Tracking Station, HF Maritime Station, Telecommunications Centre.
The Perth International Telecommunications Centre is located in the eastern part
of Landsdale WA, and has handled a large percentage of Australian
telecommunications company Telstra's satellite communications since its opening in
November 1986. Most agencies refer to the site's location as Landsdale or
Gnangara. The centre may also be referred to as PITC or Perth ITC.
The 287-hectare site was originally home to a HF Maritime radio station in 1966
which was in use until 2012. Since 1986 numerous satellite dishes have been
installed for Intelsat, Inmarsat, ESA, JAXA, Telesat as well as Telstra.
